A 'Subjunctive mood' quiz

'B' is the correct answer

Explanation:
Above situation in which 'WERE' appears that is not the past tense. 'Were' appears with great surprise in the SUBJUNCTIVE mood. Normally, when you see yourself hypothetically in other person situation or position, you use SUBJUNCTIVE mood.
E.g. If I were you, I would read more. or I wouldn't come here if I were you.

The word 'diet' can be used as a noun, a verb, and an adjective!

Fun fact: the word "diet" can be used as a noun, a verb, and an adjective! What do you think the correct answer is? Thanks, LearnEnglish – British Council, for this great quiz.

The correct answer is "C" because he/she diet specifically, so the preposition used is "on" because the preposition "on" used to specify (something/someone) then followed the noun which is "stick". I'm not using the transitive verb " follow" because it something/someone to do.

"On" is used to express that you are undertaking/taking/committing (to) something as in "you are committing to your diet"; "stick" because it can co-occur with the preposition "to". The "to follow to it" is ungrammatical because the verb "follow" nor the infinitive "to follow" cannot co-occur or be used next to the preposition "to".
